Welcome to my website....that little piece of cyberspace where it's all about me.
Aaahhh me...my favorite subject and no doubt not yours, so let me take this opportunity to thank all the "little people" who helped me to make this little piece of cyberheaven possible....
In the beginning (there was my mother...my debt to her will be paid by trying to remind myself to live each day with some of the grace and humor that both she and her mother shared) was my birthday (oh, glorious day) and on that last celebrated occasion I was given "domain" over all that is silkydave.com by two of my guitar students, Scott Hennessey and Colleen Cruikshank. A very thoughtful gift that reminded me to get off my ass and launch a website.
And so it was (and here she blows...) Lance Cookson, another guitar student (goddamn these people are useful...they give you money and perform unpaid labor) began designing the site in October 2008, despite the fact that he had never designed one before. But kids today are just so freakin' smart, and for a few free guitar lessons, you can't help but be impressed with the result. To lighten the load I found Bryan Bailey on Craigslist (where I find all my good stuff) who was offering to work real cheap in order to flesh out his portfolio. Bryan got us hooked up with WordPress and put some polish on Lance's layout. I'll make sure to have a link to Bryan's work in case you are in need of his considerable talents.
I want to thank all my guitar students whose patronage finances all of this and whose efforts to try and learn a diffcult instrument inspire me every day. I have a page dedicated to them (and of course, Me) which will eventually allow them to have their own posting sites and to swap songs and ideas. You will also be able to check out some of their recordings on the Music page.
Well enough about them...please go learn more about me, and when you're done basking in my cyberglow, please don't forget to navigate to the Store page and give the gift of music to yourself and to all those "little people" you really care about. Because in the end.... it's all about me....OK, and a little about you too ....but more about me...
